Announcement: The Crayon Initiative Conservation Project

Is your chapter is looking for a new Conservation project? If so, check out the Crayon Initiative and see how you can get started at the following website:

thecrayoninitiative.org

Collection boxes can be provided as well as low cost mailing labels. The Crayon Initiative collects donated crayons from restaurants, schools, and homes across the country, then melts them down and remanufactures them which reduces waste. The recycled crayons are distributed to art programs at children’s hospitals across the U.S.A, brightening the lives of young patients during their stay.

For more information, you can contact the founder, Bryan Ware directly via email at: bryan@thecrayoninitiative.org.

If you have collected crayons, you can bring them to the Conservation table at State Conference. Jan Soderstrom has volunteered to collect them and take them to the Crayon Initiative in Danville, California. I hope you will consider this very worthwhile conservation project for your chapter.

Thank you,

Linda Ramos
State Conservation Chair
