State Regent’s Message: January 2020

My Dear Daughters,
Rise and Shine… a new year is here! May your reflections on 2019 be of time with best friends and things accomplished…having made a difference… together. And your dreams for 2020 include the same… time with friends, accomplishing things… making a difference… together!

What a wonderful afternoon we had with friends and DAR family at our beautiful State Headquarters for the annual Victorian Christmas Tea. Even the weather, at the last most possible moment, allowed us to be inside and out, where there was plenty of room to meet and greet, enjoy the Oak Lea, and locate your dedication bricks on the patio. The house and grounds were ready for entertaining thanks to the Headquarters Administrative and Landscape Committees, with Event Vice Chair Kathy Witt taking charge and hostess assistance from chapters in Districts XII and XIII. And, weren’t the outside lights pretty?!

Besides visiting with so many Daughters, a particular joy was presenting our first donation, $25,000, to the Gary Sinise Foundation R.I.S.E. program. California Daughters may now talk of how we are – not will be – helping to build Smart Homes for our most severely wounded. We are helping to create the totally accessible kitchens, where loved ones will gather and meals and memories will soon be made. There will be two more presentations: State Conference, Opening Night, when the Foundation’s Chief Operating Officer will provide our Keynote Address and the first Saturday in June when we gather again for another Backyard Barbecue!

When the houses/walls are framed, Daughters will be invited to participate in a “Walls of Honor” event that takes place mid-way between ground-breaking and the home dedication. To better understand this event, chapters may want to view the YouTube, linked here:

Your continued support for the State Regent’s project will have an amazing impact on the lives of the service members/first responders receiving a Smart Home in California.

Having mentioned State Conference, the Call to Conference will be posted on the CSSDAR Members’ Website by  January 12, 2020. Your dues have been paid… now, be sure that your chapter’s credentials form is submitted before the February 1, 2020, deadline. This can be done either electronically or postmarked in time. Just don’t jeopardize your delegate voting rights by not filing properly.

Hotel information was distributed earlier and only a few rooms remain. Haven’t made your plans to attend? This would be the perfect time to consider using your Marriott points or double up with a friend. Though not the same fun, even consider staying at a nearby hotel. Just don’t miss Conference. Reservations to all events will be on a first-reserve / first-get-to-attend basis. There may be changes to the webstore. Pay close attention to any Announcements and new directions to register online and pay with credit cards. Seating will be limited for some events… be first! We have several very special guests, including Pamela Wright, First Vice President General, and several visiting State Regents, very excited to be coming to see how California Daughters have fun… and have and are continuing to make a difference through their service to God, Home, and Country! See you there, too!

Much love and appreciation,
Adele Lancaster
