Chapter Chatter: Feather River Service to Veterans and Veterans Day Parade

On November 7, 2019,  Feather River Chapter completed its Service to Veterans project for the year. During the summer, members made over 50 fleece lap robes. On November 7th, Regent Dorothy Welton (in the red jacket) and Treasurer Alma Roots (in the white shirt) delivered the robes to the Veterans Hospital in Mather, CA. They were met by Susan Lambert of Volunteer Services. Susan took us to the patient ward and went into each room to let the veteran know who we were and why we were there.

As we entered, we smiled and thanked each veteran for their service. After chatting with each of them, and they love to talk, we handed them a robe of their choosing. We had robes left over so before leaving we went to the outpatient waiting area and gave them to patients who were waiting to have tests done, or to see a doctor. Just this simple act of kindness means so much to them. It was a very rewarding day.

Again this Veterans Day Feather River Chapter participated in the Veterans Day Parade in Oroville, CA.
