Announcement: Member Challenge: “No Straw September”

In just the U.S. alone, it is estimated that 500 million straws are used every day. One study found that as many as 8.3 billion plastic straws pollute the world’s beaches. Skipping the straw is an easy way to make an impact!

Daughters are encouraged to skip the plastic straw* and participate in “No Straw September”. Skipping the straw is taking a stand against single-use plastic pollution. Small steps do make a difference!

Plastic Straw Alternatives:

1. Bamboo Straws

2. Paper Straws

3. Steel Straws

4. Glass Straws

5. No Straw

While the straw is a start, there is still much more to do. Take a moment to consider those other single use plastics that you may be able to skip and skip them. Consistently and properly recycle your plastics. Purchase items made from recycled plastics. When it comes to plastic, think twice!

*While there is an initiative for Daughters to skip the straw in September, it is understood that some members may need to utilize straws for certain medical conditions.

Thank you for supporting the “No Straw September” Challenge.
