On Saturday December 15, 2018, Alta Mira Chapter laid a wreath at the grave site of veteran Mayo Cornell Onken. She was the only female service casualty from the Porterville area. She was a Second Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corp. She died in a plane crash with other nurses near Ledo, India.

This chapter outing coincided with the National Wreath Across America event. Members of the CAR joined our chapter for a Christmas Brunch before heading to the cemetery.
