Chapter Chatter: Gold Trail Chapters Celebrates 40 Years and Honorary President General Mrs. Kemper

Gold Trail Chapter in Roseville, California, celebrated their 40th anniversary Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Granite Bay Golf Club. It was a wonderful celebration to honor Honorary President General and Organizing Chapter Regent Dorla Dean Eaton Kemper. Chapter regent Susan E. Holder and her 40th anniversary committee under the leadership of first vice regent, Laurie Smotherman, pulled out all the stops and provided an elegant lunch, silent auction and multiple programs. The 7th generation granddaughter of Francis Scott Key, Kellie Smotherman, and her rendition of the National Anthem brought a tear to many an eye. A slide show “Portrait of Deanie” was shown and Honorary President General Linda Gist Calvin, in her keynote tribute to Mrs. Kemper, reflected on the wonderful loving friendship they enjoyed through DAR. Mrs. Kemper spoke “Words to be Remembered” sharing her growth and love of service at all levels of our beloved Society. Past chapter regents Linda L. Winthers, Betty Wilson, Jean Thomas, Susan Brooking and the presiding regent Susan Holder spoke of chapter accomplishments. The day ended with a wonderful vintage fashion show vintage fashions through decades of DAR with the narrative highlighting DAR’s service through the years. It was a splendid time celebrating and building DAR memories.
