State Regent’s Message – June 2017

Dear California Daughters,

It’s June and Chapters are winding down their year and busy planning the next.  We’re excited getting ready for Continental Congress in Washington, Junior Tea, our California Tea, and planning for Sleepovers, Fall Councils, and even the Heritage and Victorian Christmas Teas.

How proud we are of our California honored daughters and honorees that will be recognized at Continental Congress in June: Dr. Eduardo Ochoa (you will remember him from the Celebration Dinner at State Conference) will be the  Americanism honoree by President General Ann Dillon on Opening Night and John Schuler will be honored as the Outstanding Veteran Volunteer on National Defense Night on Saturday. Watch for next month’s newsletter on all of our California National Award winners.  And please join us for the Opening Event of Congress, the California Congressional Tea at the JW Marriott on Tuesday!  Registration has been extended to allow you to get your reservation in!!

California Daughters who are genealogists, registrars, and excited members joined together at our CSSDAR Library within the  Fresno County Library on May 5-6 to learn more about genealogy research with workshops and expert help. New ancestors and new patriots were discovered, as we all worked together!!

Reservations are still available until July, for California’s week at the Salt Lake City Genealogical Library on July 30 through August 6.  See the online store for reservation information. Workshops galore, plus expert help will be available. You don’t want to miss this!

A wonderful visit to the Reagan Library, preceding the June District VIII meeting, was hosted by District Director Susan Dawson, Conejo Valley Chapter Regent and Reagan Library Docent Sandi Selditz, District VIII Assistant Director Penny O’Neill for State Treasurer Susan Broderick and this State Regent.  What a wonderful day we had.

When you visit the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, be sure to find the CSSDAR marker, repositioned, after an incredible effort by Penny O’Neill, calling upon Nancy Reagan’s office to reinforce our efforts!  We are the only organization marking the Library-Never give up!!

Happy Summer time! I hope to see you at Congress, and will be looking forward to seeing you all, with the candidates for next term’s offices, at Southern Council on September 8-9 in Irvine, and September 1516 at Northern Council in Rancho Cordova (Sacramento).

Love you all,

Bev Moncrieff
State Regent
