Chapter Chatter: John Greenleaf Whittier Chapter Recognizes Devoted Members

John Greenleaf Whittier Chapter is proud of their chapter with the devotion and loyalty of their chapter members. At most meetings there are at lest five past regents attending on a regular basis. However, at the March 15 meeting six past regents were in attendance plus the current regent. In addition we have many family connections who attend on a semi-regular basis. There are 10 sets of mother and daughters with at least two sets attending regularly, four sets of sisters, three sets of grandmother and granddaughters who attend meetings. Our oldest member was Frances McCoy who recently died, just 18 days short of her 105th birthday on April 18. We have four members who are their 90’s who regularly attend. Delores Outram celebrated 60 years of membership on April 20th and there are three members who are close to celebrating 50 years of membership.

Past regents are pictured from left to right: Penny Brown 1994-1996 and 2000-2001, Kay Terhufen 1998-2000, Margaret Smith 2001-2002, Barbara Spiker current 2016-2018, Sue Hutton 2006-2008, Dianne Sickles 2008-2012, Carol Shimko 2014-2016. Not pictured were Sharon Rehmeyer 2004-2006 and Caren Adams 2012-2014 who were not present at the March meeting. Sharon Rehmeyer and Kay Therhufen are past district directors and Dianne Sickles served as district treasurer. Carol Shimko has served as district American History award chair and is currently serving as district chaplain.  Chapter 1st vice regent, Diana Arnold, serves as chapter and district American History award chair.
