Chapter Chatter: Santa Clara Chapter Hosts First Annual Tea Social

On Saturday, February 11, the Santa Clara Chapter hosted over fifty ladies at our First Annual Tea Social, featuring the Great American Cookie Bake-off at the Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church. Guests included chapter members, prospective members, District guests, and non-DAR guests, all of whom enjoyed the treats and camaraderie.  Tables were hosted by chapter members, with each hostess decorating her own table.  Table decorations included butterfly habitat (the winning table), a miniature tea party, Valentine’s Day, a birthday party, pink tulips, zodiac, and more.  The cookie table held fifteen different types of cookies to be judged.  Palo Alto Girl Scout Troop 61420 helped with the serving, judged the cookies and tables, and shared in the fun. Tea sandwiches, scones and the varied accouterments were provided by chapter members. Hats and gloves were optional and there were, indeed, a few hats present.  No gloves!  All leftover food was donated to Home First, a homeless shelter with a program for homeless veterans. The Santa Clara Chapter is looking forward to next year and the 2nd Annual Tea Social, featuring the Great American Cookie Bake-off.
