Chapter Chatter: San Clemente Island Community Classroom Program

San Clemente Island Chapter’s Community Classroom Committee hosted a President’s Day program for one of our local elementary schools.  We decorated the multi-purpose room in patriotic colors and wore our Colonial dresses and caps.  Gary Beard, dressed as George Washington, told stories and shared interesting artifacts with the students. Mary Dahm, our First Vice Regent, played traditional patriotic music on the piano. We held 3 assemblies for over 600 children total and passed out presidential coloring pages, crayons and American flags after the program. Everyone left with a smile on their face and our Community Classroom team felt proud of the educational and fun program we provided.
