State Regent’s Message: February 2017

Dear California Daughters,

In January as we saw a new president assume the reins of our government, I thought about the very wise words of Ann Dillon, our President General: “… it is important to reaffirm that the DAR is a nonpolitical, nonpartisan organization. … We respect the varying personal political affiliations of all our members. …We are proud of the diversity in our members’ backgrounds and beliefs. Our members are passionate about this country. May that always be true! “

Many of our members have been worried about the stories concerning the littering and trash during Inauguration weekend in Washington DC, especially since our Headquarters are so close to the White House.  Due to the questions and concerns raised on social media, the President General, who is the only official spokesperson for the organization, put out the following information about our building: the net of it is that there was no physical damage to our building or property and the signs were cleared relatively quickly the next morning. There was no additional cost incurred as a result and everything was back to normal by the following morning. For her full message, please read Mrs. Dillon’s  message at http://www.dar.org/national-society/media-center/news-releases/message-president-general-about-dar-headquarters

I am looking forward to seeing many of you at our State Conference in March.  There will be good times, great visitors and guests, celebrations, important messages and wonderful friendships.  See the CSSDAR Members’ website for details on hotel reservations and Conference Registration.
