Anne Loucks Chapter spent the day on October 11th collecting worn and tattered U.S. flags for retirement as their District IV project for the DAR Day of Service. We set up collection stations in four cities, with the cooperation of various veterans groups and one police station. At the end of the day we had collected 156 U.S. flags which were given to the local Sea Cadets Squadron, a local Elks Club, and a couple Boy Scout troops for proper disposal. In return for the flags, the donors were all given a copy of the U.S. Flag Code and a lot of smiles. A lot of fun was had by all, and then we retired.
