On Thursday, August 25th the Don Jose de Ortega Chapter sponsored a buffet lunch for approximately 140 veterans at the Sepulveda VA Hospital as our appreciation for their service and sacrifice.

Chapter members greeted the long line of attendees, served salads and sandwiches, passed out beverages and visited with the veterans. Door prizes of market gift cards and bags of food were a hit with the vets who patiently waited to hear their number called.

We could not have put on this event without the amazing support of sixteen extremely generous local businesses who donated a wide array of sandwiches, salads & bread sticks, chips & salsa, desserts and beverages. Musical entertainment was provided by the Veterans’ Ukulele Club led by San Fernando Valley Chapter Regent, Susanna Sandke. The group was most appreciated and loudly applauded.

Veterans’ Administration volunteers helped with set up and clean-up. Chapter and VA volunteers went home tired, but very happy for our involvement in this successful event.
