State Regent’s Message: April 2016

Carole-FrameDear California Daughters,

Once again, spring has arrived!  Daylight Savings Time has returned!  Opening Day for baseball is just around the corner!  Life is full of hope!

The 108th State Conference was a rousing success with kudos to Conference Chair Patty Schned and her incredible committee for making it run so smoothly.  It was a great kick-off to the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the California State Society as we honored the service of all past State Regents.  The very first DAR School/Junior Membership Dinner was a blockbuster with KDS DAR School Development Director Beth Cagle speaking on the history of KDS, the “Gem of Gunter Mountain.”  That evening I was astonished to be named the MOP (Mother of a Page) for 2016!  It is one of the highest honors that the pages can bestow.  And I am deeply honored.   On the final evening, our Celebration Dinner with ten beautiful debutantes and a powerful musical tribute to women in history also gave us the opportunity to present our officers-elect for the next administration.  Congratulations to Beverly Moncrieff and her incoming board!
Prepare to join the outgoing and incoming state boards at one of the two Meet the Officers-elect luncheons–Saturday May 7 in southern California and Saturday May 14 in northern California.  You will hear the plans for the next two years, and the district officers will be installed.

June will bring the 125th Continental Congress in Washington DC from the 15th through the 19th.  The credential form for your delegates elected on or before April 1 along with the registration fees must be postmarked no later than April 15, 2016.  With the election of the next national administration at this Congress, you won’t want to miss that deadline!  Our California Congressional Tea will be on Tuesday June 14 at the JW Marriott.  Many wonderful events are planned for that week. Please look on the national website under Continental Congress for the schedule, which includes reservation and fees information for all functions.

We are still raising money for the State Regent’s projects to provide tangible support for music therapy for veterans with PTSD and to enhance the Oak Lea at our State Headquarters in Glendora.  Please give generously before the end of this administration.

Let’s continue to Celebrate America!
Celebrate 125 years of the California State Society!
and Celebrate Service…to God, Home, and Country!
