State Regent’s Message: April 2015

Dear California Daughters,

Carole-FrameSpring has arrived!  Daylight Savings Time has returned!  Opening Day for baseball is just around the corner!  Life is good and full of hope!

The 107th State Conference was a rousing success with kudos to Conference Chair Patty Schned and her incredible committee for making it run so smoothly.  The visit of our President General with her keynote presentation was a highlight.  We are fortunate to have a leader with her vision and insight.

Placing of the marker at the 1775 campsite of the Juan Bautista de Anza Expedition was on a beautiful day in Morgan Hill with more than 100 in attendance, including descendants of the expedition.  Many thanks to State Historian Sally Holcombe for her diligent work to get the marker approved.  And thanks to all who participated, including Presidio Chapter and Gabilan Chapter.

Now it is time to prepare for the 124th Continental Congress in Washington DC, June 24-28.  This will be a special time to Celebrate America! and Celebrate 125 years!  Your delegates elected on or before April 1 must be mailed on the credentials form with the registration fees, postmarked no later than April 15, 2015.

Plan to be involved!  Our California Congressional Tea will be on Tuesday, June 23 at the JW Marriott.  DAR School Luncheon is scheduled for Friday, June 26 at the Grand Hyatt.  The Junior Membership Luncheon will be on Saturday, June 27 at the Grand Hyatt.  Many other wonderful events are planned, all of which cannot be mentioned here.  On Saturday night, please plan to attend the 125th Anniversary Reception.  It will be a wonderful conclusion to the week’s celebration of our 125 years of service to God, Home, and Country.  All information about the events planned along with the amounts and addresses for reservations can be found at members.dar.org under Continental Congress, Schedule.

Let’s continue to Celebrate America! and Celebrate Service…to God, Home, and Country
