Antelope Valley Chapter Announces American History Winners

The Antelope Valley Chapter held its American History Essay Awards luncheon on February 7, 2015 in Palmdale. Ramona McCaslin, the chapter Committee chair, does an outstanding job when she gets this event ready. Sandra Orozco, the District XV American History Chair attended the meeting to present the four chapter winners with a check and a certificate from the District XV, as they all won at the District level also. There were 51 people attending the luncheon, which included five teachers, one principal and one District XV member.

Winners are as follows:
American History- Title: “A Child’s Journey through Ellis Island”

  • 5th Grade: Emanuel Joseph Valentino, Sacred Heart School
  • 7th Grade: Maxwell A Von Tungein, Desert Christian Middle School
  • 8th Grade: Darian Alexander Schalow, Sacred Heart School

Christopher Columbus Winner:
Augustus W. Von Tungein, Desert Christian High School

Augustus was a repeat winner who won last year’s American History for the 8th grade level.
