The Coast With the MOST!

The California Congressional Tea was a smashing success attended by over 200. The theme, “Celebrating California’s Gold,” was appropriate with greetings from our two “golden Daughters.” Honorary Presidents General Dorla E. Kemper, Linda Watkins, and Linda Gist Calvin brought greetings that included best wishes for a successful and memorable 121st Continental Congress. The President General, Merry Ann T. Wright, arrived and thanked California Daughters for sponsoring the refurbishment of the skylight structure and a lay light. Thank you California Daughters for your continued support.

NEWS FLASH! California is The Coast with the Most with a 5.6% net increase in membership during the two years of this administration. I’m writing this on a hotel computer and don’t have the statistics at hand. Those will be provided later in the California Clarion. Just know that New York State Regent Denise Van Buren looks beautiful in the Dodger cap that is embroidered with “The Coast with the Most” across the back.Denise offered one more challenge – that she would stay for photos with any Daughter paying $10 for the privilege, and she would match the first $100. All proceeds would be donated to the Lay Light Project in the California State Regent’s honor. Believe it or not, the line was long and the laughter loud. When all settled, $550 was collected!State Regent-elect Debra Jamison thanked the volunteers who served tea, the decorations committee, and the hotel staff for the delicious food and service. She then introduced her board elected to lead this organization for 2012-2014. I extended best wishes and pledged our support. It was a GRAND TEA! Congratulations California Daughters! We are the COAST WITH THE MOST!

In circles of friendship, service and commitment,

Karon Jarrard
Honorary State Regent
