Chapter Chatter: El Toyon Chapter Members Preserve History and Family Legacies

El Toyon Chapter in Stockton has kept busy this month with Historic Preservation.  The San Joaquin County Historical Society and Museum is the recipient of a gift from El Toyon Chapter member Adine Gnekow.  She donated a dress that belonged to her great grandmother, Adine Moore Bosworth.  It’s a gorgeous navy blue plaid silk taffeta dress circa 1900.  A dress in pristine condition like Adine’s is truly a rare find.

Chapter member Iris Samuel has loaned the Museum her collection of antique pressing irons.  The collection is in the front display case so no one entering the building can miss it.  As a chapter, El Toyon entered their Christmas Tree in the “Festival of Trees” at the San Joaquin County Historical Society & Museum.  Their tree was decorated with red, white & blue ornaments, garland and framed portraits of all United States Presidents and their First Ladies – 88 portraits!  Placed at the foot of the tree were six dolls dressed in colonial clothing.
