123rd Continental Congress Reminders

Please notify all of your members attending Continental Congress of the following important information.

MEDICAL INFORMATION FORM:  Please make sure that everyone in your chapter attending Congress fills out a Medical Information Form. This form can be found on the Latest Buzz on the CSSDAR Members’ website.  You should keep a copy of the completed form with you at all times while at Congress, and it is prudent to give a copy to each of your roommates in case there is an emergency.

SAFETY IN WASHINGTON, DC:  For those of you who are staying at the JW Marriott, it is an easy and pleasant walk to our National Headquarters.  It is always recommended that you walk with a buddy or with a group.  This is true during the day and in the evening. Make sure your pins are completely covered while walking to avoid theft and to comply with NSDAR rules that they not be worn on the street.  Better yet, put your pins on after you arrive at the DAR building.

IMPORTANT:  Many of you have asked about walking from the JW Marriott to the Grand Hyatt.  According to MapQuest, it is about a 3 mile walk.  That is not too far for you avid walkers, however, the National Society has reminded us that this is not a safe walk.  Members who live in the District have also advised that we should not walk to the Grand Hyatt from the JW or from Headquarters. Those of you staying at the Hyatt should not walk to and from the Hyatt either in the daytime or evenings due to high crime in the area.  You can check out crime statistics in the District by doing an online search.

We hope everyone has a safe trip to and from Continental Congress, and that you look out for your personal safety while you are there.

See you soon!
