Storage at Headquarters

The Headquarters Administrative Committee and the State Regent have received several inquiries from chapters regarding storing records in the basement at state headquarters. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate this request. The limited storage space available in the basement is used to store headquarters supplies, State Society records and  the records of disbanded chapters (which we are required to keep for twenty-five years).

During the Lampman Administration, the State Society rented a climate controlled storage locker and invited chapters, for a small fee, to store their important records. Four years later during the Jarrard Administration this locker was closed and cleaned out; it contained only 17 boxes. It appeared that chapters were uninterested in centralized storage.

It is recommended that chapters, rent a small storage locker for important records. Remember that all stored materials should be archived properly, and need to be in acid free folders and boxes. These boxes should never be placed on a concrete floor to prevent water seepage into the boxes.
