Which Council Meeting Should a Chapter Attend?

Recently, the state organizing secretary received several questions from chapters concerning attendance at council meetings. Some were not sure which council location they needed to attend: North or South?

All chapter members are encouraged to attend council meetings, either Northern or Southern.  Valuable information is disseminated to members at these meetings from the State and National Societies.

It is the responsibility of the chapter regent and district director to encourage the attendance of their members at the council meetings.

If your chapter is in a district located in the north, but your chapter is closer to the south, it is acceptable for you to attend Southern Council; or conversely, Northern Council if your chapter is closer to the north.  If some of your members cannot attend the council meeting in their end of the state, they are welcome to attend the meeting in the opposite end of the state.

Roll call is taken by the state recording secretary at every council meeting and if a representative from your chapter attends a meeting, your chapter will be counted! Please direct any further questions to the state organizing secretary.

We hope to see you at the upcoming Spring Council Meetings where you will meet the newly elected state officers.  The Northern meeting is Saturday, April 26, at the Sacramento-Rancho Cordova Marriott in Rancho Cordova. The Southern Meeting is Saturday, May 3, at Knott’s Resort in Buena Park. More info and reservation forms are coming soon!
