Junior Membership Committee

What is Junior Membership? DAR members age 18 through 35 years of age (until her 36th birthday) is a Junior Member. She holds full DAR membership and may serve as an officer and chairman at the national, state, and chapter levels when qualified. The California State Society prides itself on its many active Junior members at all levels of the Society. The goal of this Junior Membership chairman is to recruit new Juniors and to raise money for the Helen Pouch Memorial Fund. The goals of the National Junior Membership Committee are:

  • to gain new Junior members;
  • to build a well-informed Junior membership;
  • to encourage active participation in all phases of DAR service; and
  • to support the National Junior Membership Committee’s official fund-raising project the Helen Pouch Memorial Fund which provides medical aid, general financial assistance, and scholarships to our DAR schools.

How to Involve your Junior members in the Society

In your chapter, consider holding a program that would appeal to younger members, encourage your current members to bring their daughters, granddaughters, or nieces to chapter and state meetings. Hold special fundraisers for the Helen Pouch Memorial Fund. Provide information about paging to your members and ask Junior members to serve as committee chairman. All Junior Members are invited to attend an informative and fun event at State Headquarters August 11-12, 2012. Please contact this chairman for more information about this fun and free event.

Serve as a Page

Pages, also known as the “ladies in white” serve the society at State Conference, Council meetings and teas.  We strive to help the meetings run smoothly by running errands, opening doors, answering questions, and assisting the State Board.  All members are eligible to serve as a page until her 41st birthday. Paging is a fun way to learn more about DAR, make long-lasting friendships, and support the Society. If you are interested in serving as a page please contact CA Page Chairman Jennifer Garvin.
