State Regent’s Message – January 2014

Dear California Daughters,

In a few days, the Call to Conference for the 106th Annual California State Conference and conference registration form will be available online.  Please read the documents carefully, and be sure to review the Standing Rules and Proposed Bylaws Amendments.  A new event has been added to this year’s conference schedule:  State Chairman’s Club Social. This event is open to anyone who currently serves or who has served in the past as a state chair.  Information regarding how to sign up for this social club and its Friday evening event will be included in the conference information.  And…don’t forget to make your hotel reservations. The Los Angeles Airport Marriott Hotel is just about to completely sell out.

It is exciting to announce that the California State Society is a partner with the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration and that the California kickoff will be held on Opening Night at State Conference, Thursday, March 6, 2014.  We encourage chapters to bring Vietnam Veterans to this celebration so we may publicly thank them for their service.  Chapters are also urged to become a partner of the Vietnam War Commemoration. The National Society and State Society goals are 100% participation.

At the end of another year, it is mind boggling to review everything our chapters and State Society have accomplished during the last twelve months. There is no doubt we have all been very busy bees!  This officer hopes that chapters have shared the President General’s Blog dated December 30th, where Mrs. Young discusses setting goals for the new year.  Her suggestions regarding how to become more involved in DAR are inspiring. Chapters please continue to encourage members to log their Celebrate America volunteer hours.  I have no doubt that the numbers coming from California are going to be huge!

Bee Inspired and Take Flight in the Bee-u-tiful New Year!

Debbie
