State Regent’s Message December 2013

Dear California Daughters,

While sitting at my computer thinking about what this month’s message might be, I decided to take a look online to see if I could find some thoughtful words about the holiday season.  Fred Rogers, who most of us know as “Mr. Rogers” of children’s television fame, had this to say about the holidays:

“I like to compare the holiday season with the way a child listens to a favorite story.  The pleasure is in the familiar way the story begins, the anticipation  of familiar turns it takes, the familiar moments of suspense, and the familiar climax and ending.”

This officer would add to Mr. Roger’s assessment of the holidays:  the familiar smells of all the delicious food, and the hugs and kisses we receive from friends and family! These things are definitely part of the “anticipation of familiar turns” of the holiday season.

As we come to the end of another year, I hope everyone has a peaceful and safe holiday topped off with lots of love.

Bee Inspired and Take Flight!

Debbie
