Anne Loucks Spring Fundraiser

Anne Loucks Annual Spring Fundraiser was held at the Shell Club House on April 13. Members and guests learned about “Dining with the Washington’s” and were treated to a lovely afternoon. Greeted at the door by a George Washington cut-out, attendees mingled with DAR members from our own chapter as well as from Gold Trail, Josefa Higuera Livermore, Jose Maria Amador, and Mr. Diablo Chapters. Many non-DAR guests were also there. Presidio Chapter Regent Christina Ramos gave an excellent program about Revolutionary-era dining that included a table set with 18th century dinnerware consisting of replicas of service used by George and Martha Washington. On the table were real food items where “touch-and-taste-if-you-please” was encouraged. The kitchen committee provided a lovely lunch of ham salad, asparagus spears, skewered fruits and vegetables, fruit tarts, and iced tea. Naval Sea cadets served the lunch.  Paper dolls of Washington’s family paraded down the table centers. Monies raised will go to fund restoration projects at National Headquarters, the State Regent’s Honey Bee Project, the libraries at Juvenile Hall and Byron’s Boys Ranch, and chapter awards for American History, Community Service, DAR Good Citizens, JROTC, and historic preservation.
