CENTRAL LIBRARY’S CALIFORNIA HISTORY & GENEALOGY ROOM CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY WITH EXPANSION

News Release

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the California History & Genealogy Room is getting a makeover. The room will be closed to the public May 6 – June 16 in order for the space to be expanded, shelves repositioned, and materials shifted.

“We are thrilled to offer our customers a more open floor plan and better access to all the rich resources in the California History and Genealogy Room,” said Laurel Prysiazny, County Librarian.

During renovations, select city directories and early newspapers on microfilm will be available on the first floor of the Central Library at Information Services. Staff will answer questions and obituary requests via phone and email, but complex research inquiries may be deferred until access to the entire collection becomes available.
