Martin Severance Chapter recently held its Annual Awards Breakfast honoring middle school students who thought creatively about our nations’ great history. This year’s topic was “Forgotten Patriots who supported the American struggle for Independence.” Essays were written and a review committee of non-DAR members selected the award winners. Three students were honored. There was Sarah Decker, a fifth grade from St. Monica’s Academy.  Ernest Grimm, sixth grade, and Brigit Grimm, eighth grade, both from Christ the King Home School. Each student read his or her essay out loud to those in attendance.
