California State Headquarters – February 2013

The California State Headquarters is located in the beautiful Southern California foothill community of Glendora. Close to freeways, and with easy airport access, it is the ideal location for statewide use. Management of activities and maintenance at headquarters is handled by the Headquarters Administrative Committee (HQAC).

The 1909 California Craftsman is open to all members for day use and overnight stays. The dining room and outdoor patio are often used for teas, and a new silver tea service has been purchased for members’ use. To expand the number of members for overnight stays, Aero beds have been purchased, and the home can accommodate 16 members. The parlor is a wonderful location for business meetings or awards presentations.

Chapters, districts, committees, and members can request use of headquarters by contacting Peggy Comstock, Hospitality Vice Chairman. Peggy will help you through the process and explain the fees. The forms and more information can be found on the CSSDAR Members’ website, on the CSSDAR Headquarters Committee page.

Each year, the State Board of Directors and HQAC host two events. In December, members and guests and welcomed to a Christmas tea. Decorated in Victorian splendor, the entire headquarters is open for touring and docents are available in each room to describe the contents.

The HQAC is excited to announce a spring open house and BBQ to be held on the beautiful patio and grounds. Get out your best cowgirl attire, jeans, boots, and hats! Round up the family and mosey on down to Glendora on Saturday, April 27, 2013, 12:00 to 3:00p.m., and enjoy burgers, dogs, and all the fixin’s for $15.00 per person. Tour the house and grounds, enjoy lunch, and maybe kick up your heels with some dancing. Look for more information soon in a Communiqué and the California Clarion.
