Daughters Learn by Sharing

Alida Woodward and Wanda Prosser

Santa Margarita Chapter members love hearing about our ancestors, whether they be the ones used to qualify for the DAR, or others. Chapter Vice Regent, Lesley Clifton, has arranged for just such a sharing at each chapter meeting. Alida Woodward was in receipt of a book put together by a cousin which documented, among others, the Gilbert, Morris, and Bradley relatives who came from England to America in 1637. They landed in Massachusetts, then found that land was available in Connecticut, and in 1639 signed the Plantation Covenant, eventually resulting in the founding of New Haven, Connecticut. Alida is a new transfer to the Santa Margarita Chapter and was awarded a Team Santa Margarita Certificate of Appreciation for her willingness to participate.
