9/11 & U.S. Constitution Remembered

Officer Samantha Alexander, Regent Wanda Prosser, and Chief Mike Davis

The Santa Margarita Chapter met September 8, to celebrate the 225th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution and to remember 9/11. Carlsbad Fire Department Deputy Battalion Chief Mike Davis, and Carlsbad Police Department Officer Samantha Alexander, were honored guests. A dvd about the 9/11 Boatlift was viewed. Over 500,000 civilians were stranded on the water’s edge of Manhattan Island when the towers collapsed cutting off their escape routes. Dozens of boats responded to a call from the Coast Guard to help ferry them to safety. For hours these boats picked up, ferried, dropped off, and returned for more. Americans at their best in the time of need. Chief Davis and Officer Alexander were presented with a DAR “We Will Never Forget Flag” and a Certificate of Appreciation by Regent Wanda Prosser. The 19th amendment was highlighted by Constitution Week Chairman, Belinda Rachman, and a Constitution “Jeopardy” game, overseen by 1st Vice Regent Lesley Clifton.
